Description:
The Business Analyst in our Information Services unit is a core member of an agile/development team. The Business Analyst communicates fluently with business stakeholders, developers, QA/UAT testers, and project managers/scrum leads and occasionally is the lead for minor projects. Works with business partners to refine/groom/document requested new processes or reports and the associated Jira user stories that can be developed and delivered. Works with technical data team to help evaluate potential solutions based on the overall impact to the organization and or particular business function/area. Contributes to the success of a project by challenging the business to define the business problems underlying the needs/requirements being expressed, and ensures proposed solutions are solving the right business issue or solution. The Business Analyst IT is completely familiar with the core business area and technology they support.
Responsibilities:
- Clarifies, updates and improves the business processes impacted by technology changes, and maps out the requirements for one or more systems to support needs and processes.
- Understands business change needs; assesses business impact of those changes, capturing, analyzing and documenting requirements and supporting the communication and delivery of requirements with appropriate stakeholders.
- Plan, facilitate, and conduct requirements gathering sessions, meetings, and presentations.
- Lead review sessions for completed business/functional requirements with key business users focused on gaining consensus and final business approval.
- Build strong relationships within the business units and support functions to understand the business needs.
- Collaborate with development and testing teams to provide subject matter expertise, assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Ensure that proposed solutions are focused on improving efficiency and effectiveness of the business processes, and are consistent across products where possible.
- Participates in project status meetings including documenting and distributing meeting minutes
- Experience with Guidewire Applications or Datahub.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of Business Analyst experience in an agile project environment.
- Previous insurance-related experience preferred
